Welcome to this special series: Trump’d. In this series we try to get more perspective on the Trump administration, the Republican dominated Congress and navigating through this hopeful new world through discussion of issues on the forefront.
Today we speak with Jennifer Chavez-Ramos, Citrus’ Student Trustee. She tells us her personal journey of living with undocumented parents, helping to raise her siblings and the struggle of balancing work and school. She also tells us her recent work in helping DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival) students who are unsure about their future in this new administration.

Update: 1/12/2017 – Citrus will be having a Board of Trustee meeting in which they will decide if they will be considered a “sanctuary” campus. Being considered a sanctuary campus means that the campus is committed to keeping DACA students safe and their files private within the law. Every campus’ commitment varies, so after today’s decision we will find out how Citrus is committing to protecting its undocumented students.
